Joe Weston is an international workshop facilitator, author, consultant, coach, and advocate for lasting peace. His book, Mastering Respectful Confrontation, is selling throughout the world. Joe has more than 30 years of experience in providing training to corporations, government agencies and nonprofits around the world addressing conflict prevention and resolution, leadership development, transforming work/social culture and deeper levels of collaboration. He is currently adjunct professor at Georgetown University, School of Government, Department of Conflict Resolution, teaching a course: Body-based skill building for navigating stress and confrontation. Born and educated in New York, Joe lived in Amsterdam for 18 years and now lives in Washington DC. Joe brings a wealth of insight to his work based on many teachings, including Tai Chi Chuan, mindfulness and a variety of traditions—plus his experience in theater and various organizational training, to create a unique style of training and coaching that combines theory with somatic exercises. His clients include NASA, The World Bank, Oxfam, KLM, Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mitsubishi Motors and various government and educational institutions. Joe works with women’s rights and other humanitarian organizations in the Middle East and the US, focusing on empowerment and leadership, reframing power/masculinity, and overcoming gender-based violence. He has also worked with different veterans organizations, supporting returning and wounded veterans in their process of integration and healing, and has also volunteered for the Liberation Prison Project, teaching meditation and leadership to inmates.
Gretchen Rubin is one of today’s most influential and thought-provoking observers of happiness and human nature. She’s known for her ability to convey complex ideas with humor and clarity. Ibn ʿArabī, full name: Abū ʻAbd Allāh Muḥammad ibn ʻAlī ibn Muḥammad ibn al-ʻArabī al-Ḥātimī al-Ṭāʼī al-Andalusī al-Mursī al-Dimashqī; 1165–1240), nicknamed al-Qushayrwas, an Arab Andalusian Muslim scholar, mystic, poet, and philosopher, extremely influential within Islamic thought. Jalāl al-Dīn Muḥammad Rūmī also known as Jalāl al-Dīn Muḥammad Balkhī, but more popularly known simply as Rumi (30 September 1207 – 17 December 1273), was a 13th-century Persian Poet was an islamic scholar, theologian and mystic poet. Rumi's influence transcends national borders and ethnic divisions: Iranians, Tajiks, Turks, Greeks, Pashtuns, other central Asian Muslims, as well as the Muslims of the Indian subcontinent have greatly appreciated his spiritual legacy for the past seven centuries. His poems have been widely translated into many of the world's languages and transposed into various formats. Dr. Jewel Pookrum was born in Detroit, MI, where she established her roots as a mother and physician. Initially working at Henry Ford Hospital, performing surgery and practicing Obstetrics and Gynecology, she later became a pioneer in wholistic™ medicine; with a strong emphasis on healing through mental and spiritual wellness. After completing a double major at Roosevelt University in biology and zoology, she continued her matriculation at Roosevelt University to pursue a graduate degree in clinical microbiology.
Subsequent to her clinical work, she then enrolled at Creighton University Medical School where she obtained her medical degree. In 1976, she completed her surgical internship and obstetrics-gynecology residency at Henry Ford Hospital. Exhibiting excellence through her innate ability, she became the director of the Woodrow Wilson Clinic for women’s health, at Henry Ford Hospital. Fueled by an insatiable appetite for knowledge, Dr. Jewel completed a Ph.D. curriculum at the American College of Holistic Nutrition, in 1992.Dr. Jewel became a solo practitioner in 1982 which led her to form her first independent medical practice, “The Perfect Health Institute,” in 1987.
Now as a retired physician, with over 35 years of experience, and a specialist in women’s health and wholistic™ wellness, her skill, knowledge and wisdom is in high demand as she is consistently requested for lectures across the United States, as well as, Canada and Europe. In 2009, Dr. Jewel created The J.E.W.E.L Network with a mission to broadcast the sciences of life and living in a clear and accurate format.
