Maya began dancing at age 5 and continued on to complete a BFA in Modern Dance at SUNY Purchase. She went to Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy and became a licensed massage therapist. For 10 years, Maya specialized in chronic pain/injury recovery and in 2006, transitioned her practice to movement specialist. Over the past 10 years, Maya has developed a core strengthening and injury prevention technique called the Maya Method. It is strongly influenced by the Martha Graham Technique, Release Technique, Pilates, Functional Training, Flamenco and the work of Caroline Myss. Maya received her certifications from the National Academy of Sports Medicine, Pilates International and Annett Lang (Post-Rehabilitative Training and Pre/Post Natal Training). She opened Studio Maya in 2008 to offer people a safe place to heal and develop their body in a holistic manner with techniques based on science and research.

Guest: Greg Reitman is a director, producer, writer, and active member of the Director’s Guild of America. Described by Movie Maker Magazine as “one of the top ten filmmakers producing content that impacts our world,” he is the founder of Blue Water Entertainment, Inc., an independent production company.
Greg produced the Sundance Audience Award-winning feature documen tary Fuel (“A vital, superbly assembled documentary." -- Gary Goldstein, Los Angeles Times). Fuel played at dozens of film festivals, won numerous awards, was released theatrically and aired on CNBC. It currently streams on Hulu.
Prior to producing Fuel, Greg wrote, produced, and directed the feature documentary Hollywood’s Magical Isle - Catalina (“A charming and nostalgic slice of Americana that beautifully recreates a sense of place.” -- Andrea Harrison, American Public Radio). The award-winning documentary was shown at over a dozen film festivals before being shown nationally on PBS.
His latest film is the feature documentary Rooted in Peace (“Reitman’s authenticity is what makes the film worth seeing!” -- Herbert Paine, Broadway World). The film, which features interviews with many renowned personalities including David Lynch, Ted Turner, Deepak Chopra and Neil Young, has been screened at numerous film festivals including the Hollywood Film Festval, Montreal, and Sedona. A theatrical release is currently planned for Fall 2016.
Currently, Blue Water Entertainment has a slate of motion pictures in development including, Shaolin Kid, Zentropy, and The Ventures as well as Stars, Cars & Guitars, a pop culture, satre TV program.
Greg is also an occasional contributor to The Huffington Post and the online talk show, “On The Green Carpet.”

On today's Heart Of Mind Radio, host Kathryn Davis features the situation at Standing Rock Dacoka. The Standing Rock Native American Reservation is a Hunkpapa Lakota and Yanktonai Dakota Native American reservation in North Dakota and South Dakota in the United States.
In segment two listeners are invited to join in a meditation to direct healing energy to the people at Standing Rock, to the land and water, and to the hearts of the policing and corporate forces.

Precious Water and Somewhere to Begin
Water is life, for the Standing Rock Sioux and for every American. Clean water is essential to our health and well-being.
The tribe is a sovereign nation and has every right to protect the health and safety of its members as well as the lands and waters vital to its culture and heritage. If constructed as planned beneath the riverbed near the reservation, the Dakota Access Pipeline could pose a threat to the river and the tribe’s clean water supplies.
It is concerning that the pipeline was originally slated to run through an area near Bismarck but was relocated near the tribe’s reservation when residents of the state capital raised concerns about the safety of their drinking water. The tribe’s concerns about drinking water safety should be equally considered. Major oil spills in rivers including the Yellowstone and Kalamazoo in recent years raise serious questions about pipeline safety.
The Oceti Sakowin Camp represents a first of its kind historic gathering of Indigenous Nations. The most recent such assembly of Tribes occurred when the Great Sioux Nation gathered before the Battle at the Little Big Horn.
The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe supports the peaceful and prayerful message of the Oceti Sakowin leaders and desires to assist with options for the their Camp before winter sets in. The on-reservation camp will allow the tribe to explore and pursue considerations for a camp and longer term ways to meet the needs of the community that is 100% off-the-grid, featuring Solar & Wind power generation.

The Battle at Standing Rock

Members of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and their allies have been protesting the 1,100-mile Dakota Access Pipeline for months. The pipeline could both threaten their water source and destroy sacred sites. “Whenever there's a resource that needs to be exploited, our lands just kept getting taken,” says one member of the tribe in this documentary, Mni Wiconi: The Stand at Standing Rock. Another adds: “We don't have any place else to go, these are our only remaining homelands. We have to protect them. Enough’s enough.”
This film was directed by Lucian Read of the America Divided series, with funding by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.

On today's Heart Of Mind Radio, Kathryn Davis will encourage listeners to begin focus on their body ascension. Including finding balance and living on purpose. In segment 2, Kathryn will offer an exercise to help with body ascension symptoms.
Kathryn Davis is a facilitator of Meditation and Relaxation Techniques; a Master teacher of Qigong; an Energy Healer, Mystic and Spiritual Doula.
She is certified in Qigong Healing Techniques and as a Qigong Teacher from the OCOM, the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine and has trained extensively in China.
Kathryn is also certified in Reiki, Spiritually Guided Life Force Energy, hands-on and distance training and the Sandlin Technique, a form of Indigenous body/energy healing that is based on Vision Quest and Shamanic Insight.
She has studied to be a Curandera and traveled to Tiotihucan in Mexico to connect with Aztec/Mayan traditions and works with the Obsidian Mirror of the Aztec/Toltec traditions. Here in the US she has connected with the spiritual teachings of the Dagara and Dogon people of Africa.

Soaring Crane Qigong is a classic Qigong practice based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Taoist philosophy and communication with the natural world.
Through the interplay of breath, meditation, visualization, and gentle, graceful movement, it permits practitioners to accumulate vital force (Qi and circulate that energy in a healing flow through the body's meridians, as well as to exercise and stretch the body, strengthen the immune system and calm the mind.
